Why do we need to know where something will lead before we begin?
Share
Most of us begin with hope.
With expectations.
With dreams of what something could become.
We take the first step with what we know at that moment — with an open heart, a smile, and the feeling that something good may be waiting ahead.
And then life happens.
Someone arrives in a new place with a suitcase and a plan to stay for a year.
Years later, the unfamiliar streets may lead home.
There may be someone they love.
A family.
Friends.
A whole life that did not exist when they first arrived.
Sometimes we stay for reasons that did not exist when we arrived.
But life can take us in another direction too.
A place may stop feeling like home.
A relationship may end.
A dream may no longer fit the person we have become.
Sometimes we leave for reasons we could never have imagined when we began.
Neither means the original choice was right or wrong.
Life continued after we made it.
And so did we.
The same is true of so many things that become part of our lives.
A person we meet.
A path we choose.
Something we create.
Even a meaningful object or a handcrafted piece of jewelry may one day carry people, places and moments that were still somewhere in the future when we first chose it.
We begin with the reasons we have.
Along the way, life gives us new ones.
Reasons to stay.
Reasons to leave.
Reasons to change direction.
Reasons to begin again.
And through all of it, we learn more about ourselves.
What matters.
Where our love belongs.
Who deserves our trust.
What deserves our time.
What we want to carry forward.
And what we are ready to leave behind.
Our plans may change.
We may change too.
But the hope, the dreams, and the open heart we began with can grow with us.
